As temperatures begin to cool, think about ways to get outside and volunteer along our waterways. Get a group of friends together or make some new friends at any of these upcoming opportunities.
Indy Do-Day(s), September 27th-29th. Projects in waterway neighborhoods still needing volunteers include:
- Central Canal and Groundwork Indy – outdoor work, gardening, surveying the neighborhood, and help with some small indoor projects.
- Pogue’s Run and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful – “Plogging” is one part running + one part litter cleanup = an awesome way to explore Indianapolis’ trails and do something good for nature.
- Fall Creek and Temple Gardens – help Temple Gardens build lasagna garden beds, where compost is used to prep new garden beds for next growing season.
White River Alliance continues the month-long White River Festival with several options for volunteering:
- Dragon Boat Race, September 29th: A fun day on the water – volunteers receive a parking pass, t-shirt, Klean Kanteen water bottle, snacks, and the good feeling that comes from helping preserve and protect the White River. Sign up here.
- Clear Choices Clean Water: Do your part in your home, backyard, and neighborhood to take care of our water. Take a pledge through tree and storm drain stewardship, conservation, waterfowl management, or native plants and pollinators here.
Spend your autumn in the outdoors, improving our waterways with your community!
