On Saturday, March 7th, Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC) hosted its annual Neighbor Power Indy event with workshops, networking, and celebration of community impact across Indy. Several waterway communities were represented as finalists and award winners.

People for Pleasant Run received the Connecting Community Award for their amazing collaborative work to work with the City to protect this Southeast Indy waterway as the development of the Community Justice Campus moves forward.

Melinda Hall of Millersville at Fall Creek Valley was recognized as a “Greatriarch,” someone who has helped write the story of this waterway community. Hall has led many efforts, including the creation of a nature preserve along Fall Creek.

ROW’s White River Committee was a finalist for the Inspiring Places Award for their work creating spaces for Near West neighbors to experience their waterway through recreation, restored habitats, and innovative arts programming. Also, on March 5, Robey School was given the Community Member Award at the 2020 Dare to Dream Award ceremony for their work to bring outdoor experiences to students. This project was led by ROW’s White River Committee co-chair, Greg Harger, along the Urban Wilderness Trail.

We are so proud of all the waterway community members making a positive impact on the quality of life along Indy’s waterways!
