This month, ROW recognizes Rosezalynn Sanford for her energy and expertise as part of Central Canal Committee‘s Community Fishing Initiative.
The Community Fishing Initiative began as a response to direct need for local residents who already regularly fish to get fishing licenses. Getting knowledgeable adults and younger people together to pass on the skill of fishing became another goal.
At the first Community Fishing Day, organized by Groundwork Indy, Friends of White River, and The Learning Tree, Sanford stepped up in a big way. She took the lead, showing young kids how to fish, and explaining to neighbors how important Indy’s waterways are in everyday life. Following the one-day event, Sanford has continued to reach out and engage community members about our waterways.
Thank you Rosezalynn Sanford for your leadership along Central Canal!
