This month, ROW recognizes Ron Rice for his energetic, insightful, and deeply neighborhood-grounded work as part of the Central Canal Committee. As Community Builder for the Near Northwest Neighborhood, among other roles, Rice has brought trusted resident connection and knowledge to Canal Committee work.
Rice has been involved since 2017. “I got involved because I felt that I could make a difference in improving both the lives of our residents and also improve the physical infrastructure of the community,” he said.
As a key partner in the Riverside Master Plan efforts, Rice serves as an important liaison between the goals of this community-led Indy Parks work and ROW’s Canal Committee initiatives in the area. “When our waterways are affected both positively and negatively, the community needs to know so that they can be a part of the process to help or celebrate such events,” Rice said.
Rice looks forward to continuing to learn more personally about the health of our waterways and to support the enrichment of the community through waterway usage, art, recreation, and engagement.
Big thanks to Ron Rice for his contributions to the Central Canal Committee and the Riverside area waterway work!
