This month, ROW thanks Keith Cruz for diving into the Fall Creek Committee with insight and energy, taking on committee leadership as Co-Chair in Summer of 2019, and joining ROW’s Steering committee as a waterway representative soon thereafter.

As a Mapleton-Fall Creek neighbor, Cruz enjoys fishing and navigating the waterway. “My love for Fall Creek informs my need to protect it and share this wonderful part of our city with others,” said Cruz. “Seeing the reemergence of wildlife such as bald eagles, beavers, and mink along Fall Creek after years of pollution and neglect is a true testament to what is achievable when communities advocate and work for preservation along our waterways.”

Cruz is a designer and engineer. He’s found his engagement in the Fall Creek Committee, which includes neighbors with backgrounds in religious service, community organizing, and sports & recreation, to be enriching. “Working with the other committee members has been an incredible learning experience. I am very optimistic about the vision our group has for the near future.”

Cruz highlights the unique role that waterways can play in connecting seemingly disparate communities in Indianapolis. “A healthy urban waterway is an amazing amenity for any neighborhood regardless of demographics,” said Cruz. “Working with ROW offers myself and others the opportunity to serve our communities and be the energy that affects change.”

Thank you Keith Cruz for your continued leadership along Fall Creek!
