As the official convention and visitors bureau for Indianapolis, Visit Indy’s mission is to promote Greater Indianapolis to travelers as well as facilitate conventions and other events. Each year more than 27 million people come to the Circle City to enjoy all that Indy has to offer. Visit Indy has over 600 local business partnerships that support tourism in Indy, many of which are linked to our Indianapolis waterways.
Visit Indy helps to promote the White River and Central Canal in particular by encouraging Indianapolis residents and tourists to enjoy our waterways.
In addition, Visit Indy has been a long-time member of the ROW Steering Committee and has been instrumental in providing visionary direction for ROW’s initiatives in communities. More recently, Visit Indy has encouraged ROW’s participation in the White River Vision and Master Plan efforts.
Matt Carter, VP of Destination Development for Visit Indy, has been serving the Steering Committee since March of 2017. In a CBS report about plans to improve the White River he says, “The historical significance of the river and our ability to turn our backs on that as an industrial corridor– we now have an unprecedented opportunity as a new frontier for us to create an asset the public will enjoy.” ROW greatly appreciates Matt’s visionary contribution to the collective.
