This month, ROW highlights our recent partnership with The City League and Kephrw Institute along Fall Creek. ROW is working with these organizations to host the Crosstown Rain Barrel Workshop Thursday, February 28th from 6:30-8:30pm at Little Bethel Crosstown Community Center.
The City League organizes an annual community basketball tournament in the Crosstown neighborhood located amid the Northeast Corridor and Mid-North areas. They believe good basketball can provide a platform for larger community goals, bringing together diverse groups around the city to increase quality of life. Thanks to The City League, ROW has been able to connect with new communities along Fall Creek, working together to bring sustainable resources like rain barrels to waterway neighborhoods.
Kephrw Institute (KI) has grown from an after-school program to an organization working in urban agriculture, multiple social enterprises, and community empowerment. Through a ROW Events Grant, KI is lending its expertise via their Express Yourself Rain Barrels initiative, preparing the barrels and leading workshop participants in final construction. With the Egyptian scarab beetle as their symbol, KI emphasizes rebirth and transformation and we hope our partnership can continue to promote transformation along all of our waterways.
