This month, ROW highlights the City of Indianapolis’ Office of Sustainability, also known as Sustain Indy. For over a year, Sustain Indy representative Katie Robinson has been serving  on ROW’s Steering Committee. The city agency is gearing up for an exciting effort impacting our waterway communities.

Sustain Indy’s new initiative, Thrive Indianapolis, is creating a concrete plan for resilience and sustainability, addressing the city’s ability to adapt to emerging environmental phenomena and provide equitable services to neighborhoods. Thrive Indianapolis will be the first actionable plan of its kind in our city’s history, bringing together city agencies, community partners, and residents to chart a course for an Indianapolis that is equitable, healthier, and prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.

Sustain Indy, in conjunction with another ROW partner, Local Initiative Support Corporation, has recruited Resilience Ambassadors to connect neighborhoods to Thrive Indianapolis and organize the future implementation of plan elements on the ground. These ambassadors will be participating in several of our Waterway Committees as an important part of their community-based work. During upcoming meetings, ROW is also working to glean direct committee input on the resiliency plan.
