ROW’s collective is grateful for partnership with Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) as it works to promote physical, mental, and environmental health, as well as prevent and protect against disease, injury, and disability. MCPHD knows that our health and the health of our neighbors depends on healthy waterways.
In November, MCPHD’s Water Quality Supervisor Gretchen Quirk presented as part of In the Know with ROW: Water Quality 101. Quirk highlighted the main public health issue in waterways: E. Coli, which enters our waterways as raw sewage overflows from the sewer system during rain events or from broken or clogged infrastructure.
MCPHD has monitored water quality since 1995 by testing for E. Coli, harmful chemicals, and other factors. You can access water quality related fact sheets along with historic and current data for the waterway nearest you on MCPHD’s Surface Water Program page.
ROW looks forward to working with the Marion County Public Health Department to educate Indy residents about their White River watershed and collaborate to improve water quality along all our waterways!
