This month, ROW recognizes Indiana Wildlife Federation (IWF) for advancing habitat restoration and awareness along our waterways. Indiana Wildlife Federation is a state-wide non-profit that promotes conservation, sound management, and sustainable use of Indiana’s wildlife and wildlife habitat. They achieve this through education, advocacy, and action in Indiana communities, including along Indianapolis waterways.

Indiana Wildlife Federation’s Executive Director Emily Wood has been part of ROW’s Ecology Committee and IWF works with ROW and other organizations as a Nina Mason Pulliam Trust Partner for the White River. IWF’s habitat programs include resources for children through their Kid’s Corner, certifications and workshops for sustainable trails and wildlife corridors, and university campus programs.

IWF has worked to improve several sites along our waterways including the Urban Wilderness Trail on the White River. They recently received ROW funding to improve a natural path in Holliday Park, including removing invasive species, planting native species, providing accessibility for all directly to the White River, and educational signage to promote awareness of waterway habitats.

ROW is excited to see what Indiana WIldlife Federation will achieve next!
